One of the most frustrating things as a Capitec Bank app user can be Installing the app and finding out that it does not work. At first you would have to go to the nearest Capitec Bank to get it activated for you, however Capitec has released a statement that says it’s now fully possible to activate the app by at home without going to the bank.

Capitec app activation problems

When I went to open my Capitec Bank account they installed the app and activated it for me right there and then. A few months later I decided to restore my phone to factory settings since I was trying to create space. I downloaded the Capitec bank app since I wanted to use it; it was not possible, this was around late 2018.

That’s when I went to the bank for activation; I was frustrated to go to a bank for such a small thing. I thought that was an outdated way of doing things. Maybe you are now faced with the same situation, worry not Capitec has stopped that exhausting process (so they say). 

Capitec says if they have verified your email address your Capitec banking profile you don’t have to visit a branch to re-install their app on your existing cellphone or to activate it on a new cellphone.     1. No, just download the latest version of the Capitec App, the old version requires you to go to the bank. You don’t need to go to the bank with the new version. The latest version has the words “New” below the Capitec logo.

    1. That’s right, you need to go to the bank and register the app, from then you can activate it by yourself should you change phones or install it.

    1. Which phone are you using if your phone has been lost? From my experience; the sim card with the phone number you registered with should be on the phone that you are trying to use to access the remote banking app.
